Join us in a roundtable, candid conversation with UVA medical alumni who have taken non-clinical paths after medical school. This will be a virtual event; participants will be encouraged to keep cameras on during the event for an interactive and engaging conversation.
Katie Barletta MD’14, PhD’12 is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and global medical director for reproductive medicine and maternal health at Ferring Pharmaceuticals. She oversees Ferring’s R&D programs in maternal health, encompassing clinical trial design and execution from discovery through Phase 3. In her role, Dr. Barletta also directs data generation programs for Ferring’s marketed reproductive medicine portfolio and functions as the therapeutic area expert lead for external asset acquisitions. She obtained her AB from Harvard College, MD-PhD from the University of Virginia, and completed clinical OB/GYN training at the Brigham & Women’s and Massachusetts General Hospitals.
Doug Clarke, MD’09, MBA is a board-certified internal medicine physician and healthcare innovator who focuses on transforming care delivery models, particularly in home-based and value-based care settings. He earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Virginia, and he completed his residency at George Washington University. Dr. Clarke previously worked as a hospitalist at a small hospital in rural Virginia and on faculty at the Medical University of South Carolina, and he continues to see patients weekly at a free clinic in Baltimore. After earning an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, he joined the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation as a medical officer, where he wrote, enacted, and led CMS’ Hospital at Home waiver during the COVID-19 pandemic. He then joined Medically Home as vice president and general manager of the emergency department in Home Service Line, where he oversaw the end-to-end design, commercialization, and development of a groundbreaking in-home, high acuity emergency department visit service for Medicare Advantage patients.
