Giving Students a Boost
The UVA Medical Alumni Association provided a coffee break for more than 125 medical students in October
The UVA Medical Alumni Association hosted its first-ever “Caffeination Station” on October 25. Students at the UVA School of Medicine were invited to drop by for an iced or hot coffee with all the fixings, courtesy of the MAA.
Cate Liverman, the MAA’s director of constituent relations, says that the event was a fun and meaningful way to engage with students. “We’re always looking for ways to support students. Sometimes that means providing funding for a new event or project through the Student Initiative Fund, and sometimes it means showing up with coffee on a busy day to help pull them through,” Liverman says. “With so much going on for today’s students – settling into a new routine, transitioning to the clinical phase, completing shelf exams, and kicking off residency interview season – we figured an afternoon pick-me-up was exactly what they needed.”
The event was held in the lobby of the Claude Moore Medical Education Building. More than 125 students from all classes came by for coffee during the event.
